Dizzee Rascal - 'Money Right' ft. Skepta

For fans of: Grime, UK Rap

Dizzee Rascal and Skepta have joined forces on what has caused controversy in the scene, by unearthing old Wiley and Dizzee beef. The track see's continuation of Skepta’s consistent form and clearly pronounced flow. Nothing new from him. It is Dizzee’s quick, authentic execution that is the driving force behind the track, seemingly revisiting the style of his early releases prior to his Pop endeavours. The beat manipulates a sample from an old school Jungle track, 'Terrorist' by Renegade, fitting the aesthetic of the music video perfectly. The controversy surrounding shouldn’t defer attention from the fact it’s a solid track made created from a rare collaboration between two heavyweights responsible for the progression of the genre.

Daniel OG - 'Roll The Dice'

Daniel OG brings his latest release to the table with “Roll the Dice”. Never afraid to switch up his style, the London rapper can transition seamlessly between hip-hop and drill. In this track, he offers a laid-back flow over a mellow drill beat, a refreshing turn away from the darker notes usually associated with the genre. “Roll the Dice” is undoubtedly a testament to the rapper’s own success and progression, highlighted in both the lyrics and the music video, where shots of residential estates followed by country manors act as a visual representation of such a theme. Overall, this track demonstrates Daniel OG’s ability to bring a track to life in his typically unpredictable and creative way.

Redlight - 'Crazy' (Ft Dread MC)

Redlight returned last week to drop his hugely anticipated new 10-track album 'ACTIVE', featuring a scope of innovative collaborations with the likes of Mobb Deep and Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan. 'Crazy' features the type of infectious bass line that gave Redlight the status he holds today; featuring hyped-up vocals from Dread MC, this track is a sure fire addition to bassline sets for the rest of the winter.

Octo Octa – 'Beam Me Up'

For fans of: Breakbeat/House

The closing track from Eris Drew and Octo Octa’s excellent Devotion EP, and my personal favourite cut, is a sublime slice of breakbeat house. The lush beat-less soundscape that occupies the first minute of the track’s run time reels you in slowly, and when an understated breakbeat finally takes the reigns it is all the more satisfying for it. A lovely tune, which seems just as tailor made for classily opening sets as it does for moments of quiet introspection.
