KHABS - Moseley Road

For fans of: Kahn & Neek, Sir Hiss

A big new release from northern grime and dubstep producer KHABS. From his recent three-track EP of the same name, 'Moseley Road' was released on Liverpool-based record label and events brand M62 Records in September. Drawing attention to some fundamentals of the grime and dubstep scene, Khabs uses insertions of grumbling bass and fast-paced, choppy percussion to give off a vibe reminiscent of Kahn & Neek tracks such as 'The Search'. Though the record wouldn't feel out of place with a grime MC, KHABS tells Beetz that he takes his inspiration from the crossover period from garage to dubstep.

Marcus Visionary - Try It

For fans of: Roni Size, Calibre

Jungle pioneer Marcus Visionary recently returned with the experimental 'Do You Want Me' and its B-side 'Try It'. Released on his brand new imprint Stereo One (which will be the main launching point for Marcus's Jungle productions moving forward), the tracks pay homage to a range of Jungle's elements and influences including break beats, dub, soul, rare groove, dancehall, techno and sonic experimentation. These are all anchored by copious amounts of sub bass, with 'Try It''s earth-shattering bassline being the highlight of the release, cementing Visionary's production prowess. Stuttery but confident kick drums accentuate the tracks energy while a liquid-reminiscent vocal explores an exchange of elements, intrinsic with the nature of the genre.

LEVELZ - Respect Respect

For fans of: UK Rap

The LEVELZ crew have done it again. Known for pushing boundaries and breaking expectations, Levelz consistently deliver unique fresh sounds that draw from an array of genres. 'Respect Respect' brings an infectious bassline that echos that of The Stone Roses in their hay-day, whilst layered percussion creates an authenticity that complements the lyrical declaration of the importance of earning respect. The video is like visual poetry and took over a year to hand-draw and animate by Stemfour Visual. From 3:10 it demonstrates the vast inimitable energy the crew bring to a live performance of the track.

Bobii Lewis - The Reason

For fans of: Not3s, Mike Posner

Tipped as one of Complex Magaine's ‘10 British R&B/Soul artists to watch’, Bobii Lewis returns with melodic dancehall-bop 'The Reason'. Lewis' vocals (while not exactly awe-inspiring) are on point for the nature of the track and are reminiscent of a 'Pill in Ibiza'-era Mike Posner; which, to credit Lewis, is not an era we knew we wanted to revisit. The track as a whole embodies how the fresh and innovative sounds of UK music right now have become popular music. Having already collaborated with the likes of Kojey Radical and Not3s, there's no doubt Lewis' rise will continue with his latest offering.
